On 18 February 2019, the long-awaited Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (the "Outline") was finally released as an outline document guiding the current and future cooperation and development of the Greater Bay Area (the "GBA"). The Outline provides a direction for the future development of the GBA and a new model for China's economic growth. The sheer scale and development ambition of the GBA as set out in the Outline will bring boundless opportunities to local and international business.

KWM and KWM Institute jointly published KWM INSIGHTS: Law and Practice in the Greater Bay Area I last year and are now releasing its sequel: KWM INSIGHTS: Law and Practice in the Greater Bay Area II. More than a dozen partners from the four offices of KWM International Center offer their thorough interpretation of the legislation and policies concerning the GBA and provide their insights based on an in-depth analysis of selected typical cases in various areas.

China Mainland’s 14th Five Year Plan continues to encourage acquisitions and investment by Chinese organisations in a wide range of sectors (e.g. high-tech, high-end manufacturing and R&D centres).
