ASIFMA releases white paper on tokenised securities’ impact to traditional finance

Tokenised securities are the next megatrend of the blockchain revolution, bringing the benefits of blockchain into the securities lifecycle, to create an innovative new financing and capital raising model that can bring efficiencies, is scalable and could provide liquidity and compliance opportunities that are evolutional to traditional finance.

KWM is delighted to have worked alongside our fellow industry professionals to develop the “Tokenised Securities – A Roadmap for Market Participants and Regulators” white paper released by Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA).

This paper analyses tokenisation and its potential impact on market participants (including incumbent financial institutions and issuers) with a focus on:

  • exploring issues that market participants need to consider in various stages of the securities lifecycle;
  • examining the key aspects of the tokenised security lifecycle and how these processes compare to traditional securities; and
  • considering what a benign, enabling environment for tokenised securities will look like from regulatory, tax, technology and liquidity perspectives.
