Areas of Practice
Ms. Liu Zhizhi is a Partner in the Projects, Energy and Natural Resources practice of King & Wood Mallesons. She focuses on cross-border investments, international construction & engineering projects, international technology licensing and cross-border sales of goods.
Ms. Liu has abundant experience in drafting and negotiating transaction documents and provides tailored legal support from project startup through construction and operation phases, including designing transaction structures, assisting in tendering and bidding, drafting contracts as well as advising on claims. Throughout her career, she has represented many domestic and foreign companies, especially Chinese SOEs. She has worked on various types of projects, including railways, roads, power, mining as well as industrial and commercial buildings in Eastern Europe, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. By way of example, she has advised on a Pakistani direct current transmission project, Ethiopian transmission project, Kazakhstani wind farm project, Malaysian solar project, Ukrainian wind power project, Pakistani hydro, solar and wind power plant projects, Vietnamese solar and wind power plant projects, Indonesian biomass power plant project, Philippine hydro power project, Bangladeshi PV power projects, Jordanian PV power project, Russian hydro power project, Middle Eastern coal-fired power project, Southeast Asian crude oil pipeline construction project, China-Thailand Railway Project, Surinamese Residential Houses EPC project, Colombian transmission project, Mozambican integrated coal mining and power generation project, Vietnamese automotive technology licensing project, Russian PPP bridge project, Russian agricultural construction project, and Middle Eastern steel factory construction project, etc.
In the years 2017, 2020 and 2021, Ms. Liu was recognized by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific as “Next Generation Partner” in the project & energy sector.
Work Experience
Ms. Liu Zhizhi joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2013. Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons, Ms. Liu worked for many years at one of the Chinese state-owned contractors recognized by ENR 250.
She obtained her B.A. and Master of Law from Southwest University of Political Science and Law.
Her working languages are Chinese and English.
