Ma Feng specializes in banking, project finance, domestic and international lending, establishment projects for financial institutions, and aircraft and equipment financing.
Ma Feng has extensive banking experience. Acting for a wide variety of domestic and foreign banks, he has developed solutions to legal issues in banking and foreign exchange. Ma Feng has also provided legal opinions and advice, and helped to draft standardized bank documents. In domestic and international lending, Ma Feng has participated in numerous loan financing transactions, including: bank financing, syndicate financing, acquisition financing, export credit and trade financing. The content of this work has included reviewing relevant documents, drafting and modifying loan documents, providing legal advice, participating in negotiations, and furnishing legal opinions. Ma Feng has also done extensive project financing work. He has participated in project financing for numerous cross-border investments involving natural resources and infrastructure, including power plants and subways.
Ma Feng provided full range services in financing and leasing of aircraft and related equipment, ships, large machinery and equipment. In aviation finance industry, Ma Feng has advised various clients including domestic and overseas lessors, financiers and airlines on various structures, including PDP financing, operating lease, finance lease, sale and lease back, leveraged lease, lease novation, French Tax Lease, JOL, US Exim Guaranteed loan, ECA financing, PRC bonded zone lease, aircraft portfolio purchase, securitisation, etc, and the lease property covers commercial aircraft, business jet, general aviation aircraft, simulators, engines and other aviation equipment.
Ma Feng has represented clients in investments in and establishment of various financial institutions including commercial banks, financial leasing companies, and car financing companies. Other legal services that he has provided include: analysis, replying to customers questions about particular projects, reviewing corporate governance and internal control policies, and drafting standard bank documentation.
In 2016 and 2017, Mr. Ma has been ranked as a "Leading Individual" in Banking & Finance by Chambers Asia Pacific Guide. From 2015 to 2017, Ma Feng was recognized as a Rising Star in Banking & Finance by Euromoney's Rising Stars guide inaugurated in 2015 and published by Legal Media Group. In 2017, Mr. Ma was named one of the China Top 15 Rising Lawyers by Asian Legal Business (ALB).
Work experience
Ma Feng joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2002. From 2007-2009, he also held a position as legal adviser at a well-known foreign bank where he provided a full range of legal support for bank management personnel and all business lines in China including Global Credit Trading, Private Wealth Management, Private and Corporate Banking, and Global Transaction Banking.
Ma Feng earned his LLB and LLM at the University of International Business and Economics.
