In recent years, Mr. Gao has handled a number of cross-border disputes related to financial derivative transactions, including representing large-scale international commercial banks and well-known Chinese state-owned enterprises in relation to financial derivative product disputes.
In the area of foreign direct investment, Mr. Gao has acted as legal advisor to a large number of foreign-invested companies, and has advised on many foreign companies' investments in China. He has handled disputes related to corporate establishment, capital investments, operations, and dissolutions.
Furthermore, Mr. Gao regularly represents Chinese and foreign financial institutions and asset management companies in the acquisitions and management of large-scale NPLs, conducts due diligence reviews and the disposition of NPLs. He has helped banks and financial institutions to recover hundreds of millions RMB worth of loans and has gained extensive experience in this area.
Mr. Gao has been ranked as one of the Leading Individuals in the field of dispute resolution in China by Legal 500 for many times.
Mr. Gao has been named to 2018 China TOP 15 Litigators by Asian Legal Business (ALB) for his excellent performance and wide recognition by clients.
Work experience
Mr. Gao currently acts as an arbitrator appointed by the CIETAC and mediation expert at CIETAC South China Mediation Center. He is also a member of All China Lawyers Association, and Shenzhen Lawyers Association.
Mr. Gao joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001. Mr. Gao obtained his LL.B. and LL.M. from Jilin University. He was admitted as a PRC lawyer in 1993. Before Mr. Gao joined King & Wood Mallesons, he was a founding partner of Guangdong Huabang Century Law Firm.
Mr. Gao's working languages are Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and English.
